GE2025: Yio Chu Kang SMC sees straight fight between PAP’s Yip Hon Weng and PAR’s Michael Fang

The People’s Action Party ( PAP ) and the People’s Alliance for Reform ( PAR ) will square off in Singapore’s Yio Chu Kang SMC.

It was confirmed that PAP’s Yip Hon Weng and PAR’s Michael Fang will contest the single-seat ward after nomination papers were submitted to Deyi Secondary School on Wednesday ( Apr 23 ). &nbsp,

Mr. Yip, 48, has won the SMC twice before. He won 60.82 percent of the vote in the 2020 election over Kayla Low of the Progress Singapore Party ( PSP).

Mr. Yip served as the Silver Generation Office’s party leader before he entered politics. He is currently employed by Temasek as a producer.

Mr. Yip stated in his acceptance speech that he has followed his five-year commitment to” offer, to talk, and to work with heart” in his acceptance speech after the candidates were confirmed. &nbsp,

” It’s been a pleasure to get to know you, whether at the estate business or in your houses,” he continued. &nbsp,

” In Parliament, I’ve spoken up on your behalf, guided by the conviction that policy must offer people. I ask that you keep your confidence. People of the YKK, cast your vote and I’ll get the distance.
