The battle between WP’s stranger Andre Low and the Women’s Action Party’s Ng Chee Meng, Jalan Kayu SMC, turned out to be the tightest match of GE2025.
In the recently formed district, Mr. Ng, 56, who was running in his next General Election, received 14, 113 vote, while Mr. Low, a former lawyer, received 13, 307.
Mr. Low stated in a statement to WP followers at Serangoon Stadium that the results was” hardly what we hoped for” as part of the “democratic method that is at the center of our country.”
The competition for Jalan Kayu had attracted a lot of attention because it sparked a discussion about Mr. Ng’s handling of the failed bargain between Income Insurance and European employer Allianz. The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), which owns Income, is led by Mr. Ng as secretary-general.
Later in the net, some of Mr. Low’s vulgarity-heavy Telegram communications were leaked, which led to his apologizing. This was for a very different cause.
Despite being a four-way culture and the WP’s first occasion contesting the constituency, the second-thinnest percentage of the evening was in Tampines GRC.  ,
At the conclusion of the night, Masagos Zulkifi, the PAP team led by Minister for Social and Family Development, received 52 % of the vote, while WP received 47 %.
The National Solidarity Party ( NSP) and the People’s Power Party ( PPP ), which both ran, received only 0.45 % and 0.18 %, respectively.
Fans at Serangoon Stadium in Malay were told by Mr. Faisal Manap, who led the WP’s Tampines group, that their faith had enabled his staff to” contend with all their hearts,” according to Mr. Manap.  ,
He thanked the electorate for their continued prayers and support throughout the plan. He also expressed his gratitude to the PAP team and expressed his hope that Mr. Masagos, the group’s president, will advance as an even better MP.  ,
The original Aljunied GRC MP made it known solely on Nomination Day that he was leading a five-member staff in the district when Mr. Faisal’s vacation in Tampines GRC was a shock.  ,
Some online users immediately criticized the match as a battle between two Malay-Muslim leaders, and Mr. Faisal addressed this by stating that he did not see himself as opposing Mr. Masagos but rather as the team’s minority candidate.  ,
Mr. Singh added that while Mr. Faisal represents the Malay-Muslim area, neither he nor any other WP candidates do stand exclusively for their communities.
Following some Facebook posts that mixed religion and politics and demanded that Muslim voters support Mr. Faisal, the authorities in the Tampines even received a lot of media attention.  ,
After the authorities brought up the matter, the WP objected to the interference, with Mr. Singh claiming that the party may be a powerful political party if it “plays the race and religion cards.”
