GE2025: Singapore Democratic Party unveils candidates to contest in Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC

In order to participate in the upcoming General Election, the Singapore Democratic Party ( SDP ) announced its candidates on Sunday ( Apr 13 ).

They are Dr. Gigene Wong, theater producer Alec Tok, and party coordinating director Jufri Salim, the founder of alternative news page Wake Up Singapore Ariffin Sha, and the founder of alternative news webpage Wake Up Singapore.

Following a walkabout at Marsiling Lane Market and Food Centre on Sunday, SDP secretary-general Chee Quickly Juan introduced the prospects.

He claimed that the party, having contested in the district in the 2020 and 2015 General Elections, “feels quite at home around.” &nbsp,

They were defeated by the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) both times, receiving 32.87 % and 36.82 %, respectively. &nbsp,

Three of the four previous opposition parties are involved. Before resigning in 2020, Mr. Ariffin served as the Singapore People’s Party’s secretary secretary-general. &nbsp,

In the 2020 General Election, Mr. Tok ran under the banner of Red Dot United, while Dr. Wong contested under the symbol of Progress Singapore Party that time.

Prior to that, the four individuals greeted people of the Block 20/21 Marsiling Lane Market and Food Centre, flanked by SDP individuals.

Jose Raymond, the original SPP chairman, was spotted speaking with Mr. Ariffin and other SDP members during the haywire.

PAP VS SDP

No other group has challenged the SDP or PAP in the district since Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC’s development in the 2015 General Election.

Dr. Chee announced last month that the SDP may once more challenge the GRC. No additional opposition group has since announced plans to run in the district.

Lawrence Wong, the prime minister, Zaqy Mohamad, the senior minister of state for defense and manpower, the mayor of North West District Alex Yam, and Hany Soh, a member of Parliament, are now anchoring Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC.

The PAP announced on Saturday that its lineup in the GRC would be the same. &nbsp,

Mr. Wong, who is running for president of the PAP, stated on Saturday that he does not get the election in his district quietly.

The limitations of Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC are unbroken as of GE2020. In the future vote, there will be 119,352 people in the state.
