GE2025: Results ‘disappointing’ but not the end for PSP, says Leong Mun Wai

Leong Mun Wai, the party’s leader in Singapore, stated that despite the unsatisfactory results of the general election, the opposition party still has a chance to win.

Mr. Leong claimed it took him a few days to recover from the” shock result” of the May 3 election in a Facebook post on Wednesday ( May 7 ).

” This GE2025 effects are not what we at PSP had hoped,” the statement continued. We respect and acknowledge the people’s decisions with sincerity,” Mr. Leong wrote.

The” Democracy speaks through the ballot box.” Even though it causes sorrow, we respect that voice.

The goal of GE2025 led to PSP’s return from parliament, putting an end to the group’s five-year dominance over the non-constituency MP chairs held by Mr. Leong and PSP vice-chairperson Hazel Poa.

The candidate lost in all the divisions it was contesting. Additionally, it received a smaller vote share in the ones it was re-contesting, including West Coast-Jurong West GRC, which saw the closest contest between PSP and the ruling People’s Action Party ( PAP ) in the 2020 General Election.

Mr. Leong promised in his Instagram post that the party had re-establish itself following the “disappointing” outcomes. &nbsp,

Even though this outcome is upsetting for us, Mr. Leong wrote,” To all Singaporeans, it is not the close.”

” Our steadfastest demands are for fairness, a democratic society, and equal opportunities for all.” We’ll reorganize, echo, and come back stronger.

He also expressed his gratitude to West Coast-Jurong West GRC inhabitants, party individuals, campaign staff, and supporters. &nbsp,

He continued,” We may have had a rough time this day, but this journey has just strengthened our steadfast support for you and the country’s coming,” he continued.
