Recent events have chipped away at trust in the ruling party, according to Progress Singapore Party ( PSP) Hazel Poa on Saturday ( Apr 26 ) night. From the SimplyGo scandal to the stalled Income-Allianz deal, said PSP.  ,
She also brought up the People’s Action Party’s ( PAP ) team’s in Chua Chu Kang GRC’s last-minute change as something that has harmed trust, during the PSP’s second rally at Bukit Gombak Stadium.
The group’s vice chairman claimed that while establishing trust can take time, first-generation leaders in Singapore were successful in getting it right with the majority of the population.  ,
” To chip away at that would be a waste,” she said. ” However, there have been many incidents in recent years doing precisely that,” he said.
OTHER MISSTEPS OF THE FUTURE
The Land Transport Authority finally reversed its decision regarding SimplyGo, according to the original Non-Constituency Member of Parliament, but it only did but after” a significant public outcry.”
She claimed that the government wanted to continue phasing out the outdated structure and introducing new users to SimplyGo despite feedback from the public regarding SimplyGo’s shortcomings.
Was the question,” Were the decision makers hardly aware of the public’s suggestions?” she inquired.  ,
If they hadn’t been conscious, it would be a case of poor control. It is a case of poor judgment if they were conscious but ignored the opinions, she continued.  ,
” Not a world-class performance commensurate with world-class salaries,” she said.
Additionally, Ms. Poa brought up the Income-Allianz offer, which was blocked, with Edwin Tong, the minister of culture, society, and youth, telling legislature that the deal’s present kind “would not be in the open interest.”
She said,” I find it astonishing that NTUC supported the deal while being unaware of the capital reduction exercise to the tune of S$ 1.85 billion ( US$ 1.41 billion ),” adding that she thinks NTUC and Income Insurance did not discharge their duties in a responsible manner.  ,
Mind would have rolled if any of these had occurred during the time of our first-generation leaders, she said.  ,
Another instance she brought up was the food poisoning incidents that some students reported after eating ready-to-eat (RTE ) meals that were distributed as part of a Total Defence exercise.  ,
There is no convincing evidence linking the hepatitis circumstances to the RTE meals, according to the Singapore Food Agency and Ministry of Health earlier this month.
This is a cause for concern, according to Ms Poa.  ,
She continued,” Is our public services slipping less competently than it did before? There are numerous occasions where people claim that more criticism is needed in parliament to check on the state.
