GE2025: PSP makes assertions with ‘little regard for facts’, says PAP’s Desmond Lee on claims that he remained silent on housing issues

After the opposition party’s chief Leong Mun Wai claimed that Mr. Lee had remained silent on housing issues, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee said it was concerning that the Progress Singapore Party ( PSP) is making assertions with “little regard for facts.”

It is indeed a matter of concern when the PSP makes assertions with little regard for facts, Mr. Lee said in a statement on Wednesday ( Apr 30 ). I urge the electorate to take into account the information and practical programs that each side has made when making a choice during this general election.

Mr. Lee, who is the party’s front-runner for the West Coast-Jurong West GRC ( PAP ), claimed he had not responded to several policy questions the party raised on the sidelines of a walkabout at Jurong West Street 91 on Wednesday morning. &nbsp,

Mr. Leong said, among other housing-related issues, that he did not address concerns about the rising cost of Housing and Development Board ( HDB) apartments, lease decay, and the lack of lift upgrades for some Singapore apartments.

Mr. Lee retorted these claims on Wednesday, saying they were “untrue” and that the consumer should take both sides ‘ viewpoints into account. He added that he had addressed housing issues in the nation on “multiple occasions” throughout the campaigning period.

These included the West Coast-Jurong West GRC declaration being released on April 23; he also made another appearance last Friday when he addressed the media, and his rally speech next Sunday.

On Nomination Day, Mr. Lee and his team presented their accomplishments, including creating Silver Zones and Friendly Streets and putting in the Home Improvement Programme for open enclosure, at the start of the West Coast-Jurong West statement.

Speaking to the media on April 25, Mr. Lee had praised efforts to lower the non-selection charge among homebuyers and said there was a “determination” to help various groups of Singaporeans in becoming homeowners.

According to Mr. Lee,” the topic of housing has also been heavily debated in parliament prior to the election strategy.”

He added that he acknowledged housing issues that Singaporeans have during his rally speech on April 27 and that the pandemic had resulted in the “worst building problems” in recent memory, leading to higher cover prices and high demand for flats.

Mr. Lee stated at the march that his team had spoken to people over the previous five years and had heard their dreams for good jobs and homes as well as worries over cost of living.

” I gave Singaporeans the assurance that we have finished building all the properties that have been delayed and significantly increased the supply of new housing,” said Mr. Lee.

He added that the cover market” will stabilize,” and that the government will be able to provide more affordable accommodation through the Standard, Prime, and Plus model.

Mr. Lee noted that the government is looking into more affordable accommodation options for singles and higher-income younger people.

People cover is a part of the PAP National Manifesto, according to Mr. Lee, and these are subjects that PM Lawrence Wong has mentioned.

Plans are laid out in the PAP declaration to create 50, 000 new apartments over the next three decades and increase the number of homes with shorter waiting periods. &nbsp,

Additionally, it aims to revive older Housing cities through the Voluntary Early Redevelopment Scheme, or VERS, while making apartments in prime locations like Kallang-Whampoa, Bayshore, and Mount Pleasant available to more candidates.

Mr. Shawn Huang, Mr. Ang Wei Neng, Ms. Cassandra Lee, and Dr. Hamid Razak are Mr. Lee’s and Mr. &nbsp,

The staff will face off on May 3 with Mr. Sani Ismail, Mr. Sumarleki Amjah, and a PSP stone that includes the group’s president Tan Cheng Bock, Leong Mun Wai, Leong Mun Wai, and second vice-chairperson Hazel Poa.

” We are clear about our commitment to keeping cover affordable and accessible for Singaporeans,” according to Mr. Lee.
