GE2025: PPP raises issues with the transport system, calling MOT a ‘mess’

Speaking at their third rally on Tuesday ( Apr 29 ), the People’s Party ( PPP ) candidates in Singapore took issue with a number of transport-related issues, going as far as calling the Ministry of Transport a “mess.” &nbsp,

One of the PPP candidates for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Mr. William Lim, claimed that the Land Transport Authority ( LTA ) had been “lax on the monitoring and maintenance of all trains and buses.”

He cited a situation last year where the Mass Rapid Transit ( MRT ) system had been inoperable for about a week.

In later September of last year, a wheel slipped off the running road between Dover and Clementi channels, causing a disruption to teach companies on the East-West line for six days. &nbsp,

In consequence, engineers had to spend days repairing the considerable damage to the tracks and other products along the way.

This is a wake-up visit for all Singaporeans, according to Mr. Lim, who was formerly a car driver and the creator of the Social party” Singapore Taxi Driver.” He is presently operating a car company.

” This is something we are fortunate that no one is hurt or killed,” he continued.

Mr. Lim also criticised the three-piece Electronic Road Pricing 2.0 on-board unit ( OBU) installations for cars, which are slated to be put in about one million vehicles by 2026, claiming that the units were constructed of” cheap stuff” that can’t handle Singapore’s heat. &nbsp,

Why don’t they employ military-grade pieces? This is a sinister thing.”

Mr. Lim even criticized Transport Chee Hong Tat for the SimplyGo story in January of last year. He noted that Singaporeans were unsatisfied despite the LTA having engaged more than 1, 000 travellers to assess their eagerness to move to SimplyGo between 2020 and 2023.

After complaints from commuters about numerous missing functions in the new program, the LTA later U-turned on its decision to step out the aged ticket system in favor of SimplyGo.

Before the 2025 General Election, Mr. Lim was the first of PPP’s nine individuals to speak at its second rally held at Yio Chu Kang Stadium. The PPP fresh face, Mr. Vere Nathan, was the evening’s rapper, who was the only one to miss Tuesday’s speech. &nbsp,

According to wet conditions, the march started 45 minutes later than anticipated. &nbsp,
