In Kebun Baru SMC, the People’s Action Party’s ( PAP ) Henry Kwek and the Progress Singapore Party’s ( PSP) Tony Tan will square off against one another.  ,
On Wednesday ( Apr 23 ), both candidates successfully submitted their nomination papers to Deyi Secondary School.  ,
Mr. Kwek, 49, serves as the CEO of a boutique investment company and the executive director of a investing, opportunities, and consulting company.
PSP also contested Kebun Baru SMC in the 2020 election, but its prospect Kumaran Pillai lost to Mr. Kwek, who received 62.92 percent of the vote. Finally, it was a recently constructed ward of Nee Quickly GRC.  ,
In 2015, Mr. Kwek made his political debut by being one of the five PAP candidates in the Nee Quickly GRC.
Mr. Kwek stated in his speech that,” Over the past ten years, we’ve built a caring and gorgeous Kebun Baru, a house where young people grow with hope and seniors time with respect.”
He continued,” We focus on what matters most, easing the cost of living, helping everyone live long and well, and standing with you through uncertain days, just like we did during COVID, because your trust gives us goal, your worry gives us resolve, and together we overcome obstacles and build what’s next with confidence and care,” while also mentioning that the best days are yet to come.
Tony Tan from PSP is upwards against him this time around in Kebun Baru.  ,
Mr. Tan’s team lost to the PAP in the 2011 election for Chua Chu Kang GRC under the NSP symbol.  ,
Since the group was established in 2019, the 55-year-old has been a charity with the  , PSP. He and Hazel Poa, the vice president of PSP, are married.  ,
Mr. Tan, a graduate of the Singapore Armed Forces and a member of a game and private schooling company, also has an engineering background.  ,
Mr. Tan argued that his group wants to create a “better Singapore” where no one is forgotten.
