On May 3 when polling day is May 3, voters in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC will choose between the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) and Red Dot United ( RDU).  ,
Vivian Balakrishnan, the minister for foreign affairs, is in charge of PAP’s stone, while Fazli Talip, the team’s financial consultant, leads the RDU team.  ,
On Wednesday ( Apr 23 ), candidates from both parties had a successful filing day at Methodist Girls ‘ School.  ,
The PAP’s staff has remained constant since the general election of 2020, including MP Edward Chia, Deputy Speaker Christopher de Souza, and Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development Sim Ann.
Mr. Fazli and three newcomers to RDU’s roster are engineering expert Sharad Kumar, music teacher Emily Woo, and operations manager Nizar Subair. Mr. Fazli previously served as a member of the National Solidarity Party ( NSP) and also ran for East Coast GRC in 2011 under the Workers ‘ Party’s banner.
With 66.36 % of the vote, the PAP team won the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC election in 2020 despite the opposition’s Singapore Democratic Party ( SDP ).
Dr. Balakrishnan thanked the residents of the constituency for the “privilege” of serving them for “many years” in his balcony statement following the confirmation of his team’s nomination.

We’ve done our best to improve our cities and supported your people during difficult times and great days. We’ve kept our foliage safe. However, there is still a lot more to get done.
We will make sure your children and grandchildren have a better coming, he added. However, we need your vote, but we ask for your aid.
One of the RDU’s newcomers, Mr. Sharad, requested that voters grant the crew a mandate to assist them in parliament.

RDU SWITCHEROO
The RDU group drove into the election center earlier that day in a van with tinted windows, causing rumors of a last-minute change in its roster.
Prior to the party’s news for the GRC, it had previously mentioned businessman Patrick Tan, who was not Ms Woo. Jurong Central SMC’s possible candidate for RDU was presented to Ms. Woo.
In a surprise move, the group selected Jurong over Ms. Kala Manickam, who was scheduled to square off against Jalan Kayu SMC  in a previous challenge. RDU announced on Tuesday that it would leave Jalan Kayu to make way for the Workers ‘ Party.
According to Mr. Fazli, the RDU group’s anchor candidate in Holland-Bukit Timah, the celebration leadership chose to replace Mr. Tan with Ms. Woo in the roster after the election process was completed.  ,
He stated that Mr. Tan will continue to be a “valuable member” of the group and the group and will make contributions in a non-candidate power.
