GE2025: Liang Eng Hwa says ‘naive’ of Paul Tambyah to think estate projects will continue on ‘autopilot’

On Wednesday ( Apr 30 ), the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) candidate for Bukit Panjang SMC Liang Eng Hwa declared it was “naive” for his only election opponent to believe that constituency projects would continue on “autopilot” under a new Member of Parliament ( MP ).

Prior to Singapore’s May 3 General Election, Mr. Liang, the president for the single-seat hospital, stated that “in my most of my years of serving as an MP and in Bukit Panjang city, really a major part of my work is to work with the government to provide much-needed projects to Bukit Panjang.”

It doesn’t feel like it is on driver. It doesn’t arrive to you as quickly as SDP might seem to indicate.

He was speaking at a rally by Bukit Panjang SMC candidate Paul Tambyah of the Singapore Democratic Party on Tuesday ( Apr 29 ), in which he stated that estate projects and services would continue even if SDP candidates were chosen to replace PAP ones.

Dr. Tambyah attributed this to Singapore’s government and legal service organizations, which are among the world’s most unbiased and professional organizations.

Mr. Liang acknowledged at his own rally on Wednesday that the government and the civil service were truly competent and effective, but that they could even reject projects that did not “align with their present plans or objectives” or that they had no money for.

And that’s why Members like me are important in helping our neighbors, he said. It’s not always smooth sailing, she said. In reality, it is “most of the time” no”

” But, it is actually naive to think that companies will do all these points for you, to carry out these tasks for you, regardless of who is your MP. It’s not the situation, according to Mr. Liang.

He referred to MPs as bridging the gap between the authorities and the populace.

Mr. Liang cited some instances, including how he collaborated with the Land Transport Authority and the Ministry of Transportation to create the Senja-Kranji Expressway connection to ease place traffic congesions. He also cited his efforts to start the construction of two stalls centers and the launch of the bus service 972 to increase connectivity.

” You can’t be telling your citizens… don’t care what the Members have done,” the MP said. According to Mr. Liang of Dr. Tambyah’s feedback,” someone will be elected, the things will continue and become delivered.”

In fact, he continued,” In fact, in-principle approval jobs also need a lot of pushing to get it off the surface.” An accomplished MP like myself can do better, get things going, and notice things come to fruition, as they say.
