In the Pioneer ward with a seat, Labour unionist Patrick Tay will once again hold the position of People’s Action Party ( PAP ) in the upcoming General Election.
The former MP for the hospital is Mr. Tay, who serves as the NTU’s assistant secretary-general.
” I hope to support our residents, to travel with you together in the next five years,” said Mr. Tay on Tuesday ( Apr 15 ) at the PAP’s West Coast branch office, where his candidacy was announced.  ,
Pioneer SMC is one of nine political districts that have not changed in the most recent analysis of Singapore’s political map. Geographically, the hospital is situated within the region that the recently renamed West Coast-Jurong West GRC surrounds.
As of 2025, the clinic has 25, 166 listed citizens.
In a three-cornered competition, one of only two of those races that time, Mr. Tay received 62 percent of the vote in the 2020 General Election. He faced Lim Cher Hong of the Progress Singapore Party ( PSP) and Cheang Peng Wah, an independent candidate.
Although the group has not yet disclosed who will run for office, the PSP has confirmed it will once again area a candidate for GE2025 in Pioneer SMC.
