Workers ‘ Party ( WP ) leaders in Singapore stated on Sunday ( May 4 ) that it was crucial for the opposition party to not be “broken in” by electoral boundary changes, adding that the results of GE2025 may still offer opportunities for the party’s renewal plans.
Days after the announcement of the General Election results, WP secretary-general Pritam Singh spoke to the internet along with gathering head Sylvia Lim, Aljunied GRC individuals Gerald Giam, Fadli Fawzi, and Kenneth Tiong.
The largest opposition party in Singapore managed to keep Aljunied GRC, Sengkang GRC, and Hougang SMC, making it the only opposition group with 10 seats in parliament but made progress in new locations.
After losing by the sexiest of profits in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC, it will also be given two non-Constituency MP tickets.
In response to a question about whether the party could have fielded its strongest candidates in a single constituency, Mr. Singh responded,” In retrospect, everyone is a master, but I’m actually very warmed by the party’s response to the EBRC ( Electoral Boundaries Review Committee ) report.”
On the outside of a walkabout to bless the residents of Aljunied GRC, he said,” I think it is important for the Workers ‘ Party not to be boxed in by the EBRC.
Mr. Singh continued, citing the group’s ability to quickly transition from Aquatic Parade, where it had been walking the floor for years, to the previously carved out Punggol GRC, adding,” And if we have the capacity to break out and move into different areas and do well, do well, and do well, do well, I think it speaks well of the party organizationally.”
We watched the Marine Parade incident, and we chose never to enter… We must be on our feet no matter what the EBRC does. Any political group for its water had, in my opinion, keep that in mind.
He urged Singaporeans to voice their opinions on reversing political limitations, noting that “nothing has greater power than the voice of the people.”
Aljunied GRC, East Coast GRC, and Tampines GRC had their limitations redrawn in the divisions that the WP contested this time, while Jalan Kayu SMC, Tampines Changkat SMC, and Punggol GRC were all recently formed.
Both Hougang SMC and Sengkang GRC were unaffected.
