KUALA LUMPUR: PKR is confident that it will win back the Ampang parliamentary seat from Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, says Fahmi Fadzil (pic).
“I think our spirit to reclaim Ampang is high and I believe Rodziah Ismail who is a very senior politician will be successful in gathering all that’s needed to win the seat on Nov 19,” said the party communications director when met during the PKR candidates announcement in Ampang on Friday (Oct 28) night.
Zuraida, who was the former PKR vice-president, had contested and won the seat on a Pakatan Harapan ticket in the 2018 general election but later joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia after being sacked from PKR in the wake of the Sheraton Move in 2020.
Meanwhile, Rodziah said she has a heavy responsibility to reclaim the Ampang seat but is confident that she will emerge victorious.
“With the support of the people and friends of Ampang, I’m confident that we are able to conquer Ampang this time in style.
“But what is important is for us to prepare adequately (to campaign),” she said.
Fahmi also expressed confidence that Pakatan Harapan would win the upcoming election.
“InsyaAllah with the hard work that we put in and the numbers that we are seeing in terms of survey results and turnout at events, I think we have a lot of challenges nonetheless because we don’t know how the weather will be on polling day but I think we have a fair and good chance to form the next government,” he said.
