KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 94,411 police officers and personnel will be deployed for the 15th General Election, says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani (pic).
The Inspector-General of Police said the police are ready to face the elections.
“We will deploy 94,411 out of 120,557 for various duties pertaining to the elections. We will also closely cooperate with all agencies, especially the Election Commission (EC), to ensure the democratic process runs smoothly,” he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 10).
Preparations have also been made to work hand in hand with other rescue agencies to face the possibility of floods during the polls, he said.
“We hope all parties play their part so that the elections can go on without any unwanted incident.
Members of society must refrain from touching on sensitivities in facing any political scenario,” he said.
The IGP said the police are committed in carrying out their duties to ensure that safety and public order are always preserved.
