Covid-19 may be treated as a standard breathing condition from the beginning because there are more cases being diagnosed and the indicators are getting less severe, according to Chulalongkorn University pathologist Dr. Yong Poovorawan.

It is obvious that this year’s burden is in drop, Dr Yong wrote on Twitter on Monday.

Covid-19 people accounted for up to 30 % of the 6, 000 people suffering from respiratory conditions at the start of the rainy season, but the number had dropped to only 5 % in August, he said.

The figure is anticipated to continue declining until November before rising again over the New Year’s Eve trip and peaking in January or February, according to Dr. Yong, who directs the university’s University of Medicine’s Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology.

The mountains will not be as high as those recorded at the beginning of this year’s rainy season, which is the typical time when Covid-19 spreads. Additionally, the intensity has steadily decreased.

” Therefore, it’s game over for Covid-19 overall, and the number of deaths should n’t be more than 300 this year and should keep dropping in the coming years”, said Dr Yong.

” Covid-19 will be like a seasonal lung disease”, he said, adding that the best ways to stop it are much the same as for any other respiratory illness.

XBB is one of the strains that are now spreading. 1.5 and XBB. 1.16, with the original having replaced BA. 2.75, which was spreading earlier this year. All are sub-variants of Omicron. According to Dr. Yong, the younger variants are significantly less severe than the older ones by over 90 %.

Most of those who die from Covid-19 pertain to high-risk organizations, such as people aged 60 and older, those with underlying health problems and pregnant women.
