Fugitive Singapore lawyer Charles Yeo remains in custody in UK over passport issues

SINGAPORE: Singapore prosecutor Charles Yeo, who faces an abduction hear in the UK, remains in custody&nbsp, despite being granted bail.

Yeo, 34, appeared at Westminster Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday ( Dec 10 ), as his lawyers attempted to secure his release on bail.

He was given contingent loan by the court last month, with one of the crucial requirements being the surrender of his card.

However, there have been issues confirming that the UK Home Office has his card.

On Tuesday, Yeo’s attorneys were unable to create documentation that his card, which they claimed, was never more with the Home Office.

The defense attorneys suggested that Yeo may adhere to stricter loan problems rather than provide evidence of where his card is located.

This included paying a higher bond, which is currently set at £75, 000 ( US$ 95, 700 ), or having Yeo report more frequently to a police station.

The jury rejected these ideas, but they were rejected. The judge urged the court to provide the prosecutor with evidence of the passport’s locations.

Last year, Yeo’s doctors asked the Singapore High Commission in London to withdraw his card.

The lawyer informed the court on Tuesday that Yeo don’t submit an application to the High Commission in person while he is being held in custody. The High Commission informed them of this fact.

His attorneys stated that they would be requesting a see call from the court. If granted, the Home Office would have to listen or appear in court to explain why they couldn’t create photo identification evidence.

Yeo’s complete extradition hearing is scheduled for May of next year.
