Four network suspects held

Four suspects have been detained by the Department of Special Investigation ( DSI) in Nakhon Sawan and Lop Buri in connection with a 5-billion-baht network of gambling sites.

The government’s crackdown on all types of gaming sites and pony accounts is a part of its strategy to promote fairness and accountability in society.

As a result, DSI authorities arrested two people identified as Saksit, 38, and Ploen, in tambon Lad Tipparot of Nakhon Sawan’s Takhli city.

Two people, identified as Somporn, 49, and Theerapong, 42, were arrested in Lop Buri’s Ban Mi city.

No names were given for the four offenders, a DSI cause said monday.

The four defendants are alleged to be members of the Mae Mont online gaming system, which generates$ 5 billion in revenue.

The source said some of them have essential jobs in the system, such as directors or shareholders.

They were charged with organising playing actions, persuading people to engage in gambling and money laundering, the source said.

These most recent detention came after the authorities detained 15 members of the same gaming system on April 30 in both regions as well as Nonthaburi.
