Four killed in bomb attack on Catholic mass in Philippines

MARAWI: President Ferdinand Marcos blamed “foreign jihadists” for the bombing that occurred on a Catholic mass on Sunday, December 3, in the insurgency-torn southeastern Philippines. At least four people were killed and dozens were injured.

The explosion occurred in Marawi, the largest Muslim city in the nation, during a day services at Mindanao State University.

According to Police Lieutenant General Emmanuel Peralta, the explosion, which was brought on by an impromptu explosive machine, resulted in four fatalities and about 50 injuries. Before, the dying burden had been three.

According to other security officers, the bombing might have been a retaliatory strike in response to new military operations against violent groups.

Some reversed plastic chairs, shattered glass, and other debris were visible in photos taken by the Lanao del Sur municipal government’s Facebook page, which also revealed a black patch of gymnasium floor debris.

Chris Jurado, a 21-year-old university undergraduate, told AFP from his hospital bed that the blast occurred at 7am native time during the day mass’s second Bible reading. &nbsp,

Jurado remarked,” It was really unexpected, and anyone fled.”

” People were lying on the floor when I looked behind me. Because all happened so quickly, we were unaware of what had happened.

Rowena Mae Fernandez, 19, claimed she initially had no idea what the storm was before some began to flee.

” My friend and I also ran, despite the fact that we once fell to the ground. Until I left the treadmill and fell again, that was the only thing I could recall, she said from the hospital.

” My companions were in tears as a result of seeing my wound.
