Four Indonesian men were detained early on Saturday ( May 17 ) for entering Singapore illegally, according to the police and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) on Sunday.
The policeman coast guard saw the four men using a small vessel entering Singapore from the sea, between the ages of 28 and 50. They made their way to Pulau Tekong’s border range.
The four people were detained outside the island’s designated areas by officials from the Police Coast Guard, Gurkha force, Special Operations Command, and K-9 System.
According to the authorities and ICA, they were reportedly discovered without any travel papers.
A fibre-glass vessel fitted with an outboard motor and 2,700 bits of duty-unpaid cigarettes were both found during the procedure.
On Monday, the four people may face charges in court for entering Singapore unlawfully. They could spend up to six months in prison and become subject to no fewer than three wood stroke if found guilty.
Studies involving the situation are being handled by the Police Coast Guard and Singapore Customs.
The joint functioning with ICA, according to the commandant of the Police Coast Guard, exemplifies the coordinated efforts to protect Singapore’s territorial waters and its maritime borders from violence and security threats, including illegal entry and departure from Singapore.
Everyone who participates in such improper entry or departure from Singapore, such as ferrying the illegal refugees to or from the destination of arrival or departure, may be subject to the full weight of the law. “
