BEIJING: Four people were killed and 9 others injured in a flash flood in southwest China on Sunday (Aug 13), local authorities said.
Footage published simply by Chinese media demonstrated water rising quickly in a river on the outskirts of Sichuan province’s Pengzhou city.
Tourists who was simply playing in the at first shallow water might be seen running to get safety and clambering over rocks since the water rushed in the direction of them, but some were unable to reach the water bank in time.
At least one person, a lady stranded on a boulder in the middle of the river, appeared to lose her footing and was swept away by the current, according to a posted online by the state-owned Beijing Youngsters Daily.
“As of 7. 30pm, the mountain overflow has killed 4 people, severely hurt three and gently injured six other people, ” Pengzhou crisis response authorities said in a statement.
