Four Chinese held in Bangkok scam bust

Following an earlier arrest of a young Chinese person who had SIM cards used by phone centers, roses were issued.

During police attacks on eight spots in Bangkok on Friday, four Chinese people were detained for their alleged role in a call center fraud system.

Pol Maj Gen Theeradej Thamsuthee, chief of investigation at the Metropolitan Police Bureau ( MPB), led a team of officers to raid the eight premises in the Bang Na, Makkasan, Lumpini, Huai Khwang, Hua Mak and Din Daeng areas.

During the activities, four Chinese males aged between 29 and 32 were arrested, said Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, the MPB director. Just their names were given.

The defendants were detained in a property in the Bang Na Tai district’s Bang Na region. Three notebook computers and a spark drive were taken from the area.

Three of the men were charged with illegally residing in the country and assembly, while the third was accused of failing to notify immigration authorities about a hotel or property within 24 hours of entry.

A 19-year-old Chinese man was detained earlier this week by MPB authorities for allegedly participating in a call center fraud. In a apartment place rented by the suspect, later identified as Tan Minghong, in Bangkok’s Hua Mak location, officers found eight brand-new SIM boxes and other items.

Additional research led to the four Chinese men’s Friday arrest, according to Pol Lt. Gen Siam.

During doubting, the first to second suspects denied all expenses. They asserted being vacationers when they entered Thailand. But, they may not make a single image of themselves at a tourist site, authorities said.

According to authorities, the defendants earned funds from operating a gambling site. In China, they had no listed activities.

When asked, the men also refused to provide their documents to the authorities. They asserted that a trip company kept their passports. However, the third think confessed to the costs.

According to Pol Maj Gen Theeradej, the researchers targeted the eight places because they all had connections to admitted Chinese con artists operating in Thailand.
