Forum takes aim at future pandemics

To ensure public access to high quality medical treatment, members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Assistance (Apec) have decided to boost global financial security by controlling health issues with financial development, said Open public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

They also vowed to implement quicker reactions when dealing with rising infectious diseases in the future and invest more in their respective health systems, the ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) said yesterday.

Mr Anutin said the Apec members agreed to stability these concerns and focus more on general health insurance under the alleged Putrajaya Vision 2040.

Additionally they agreed to make their borders more open, cooperate on writing vaccine technology, plus facilitate greater trade.

Mister Anutin chaired the roundtable discussion on investing in health safety for pandemic readiness in the future, which was attended by Apec’s public health ministers.

This was the ultimate panel under Apec’s high-level meeting upon health and the economy in Bangkok from Aug 25-26, which usually ran under the theme of “Open to Partnership, Connect with the entire world. Balance Health and the Economy”.

Mr Anutin stated most Apec associates have not invested sufficient to deal with future pandemics as mapped away by Putrajaya Vision 2040, a global dedication to support and promote sustainable development.

He stated the results of the meeting were encapsulated within the chair’s statement, which stressed the importance of marketing international and regional collaboration and partnerships to improve the health and wealth of people within the Asia-Pacific.

“It recognised that the world needs to be a lot more prepared for future pandemics and other health threats, and that a new international instrument upon pandemic prevention, preparedness and response ought to be developed, ” he or she said.
