Former Pattaya mayor arrested on return from Cambodia

Itthiphol Kunplome, the secretary for culture up until recently, was detained on Monday night after arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport from Phnom Penh on suspicion of bribery in a contentious condominium project that he had approved as mayor of Pattaya 15 years prior.

He was detained by immigration officials at Bangkok’s major airports at 10 a.m. Early next month, a judge arrest warrant was issued, and he was wanted.

For fraud cases in the eastern state of Rayong, officers took him right away to the public prosecutors’ Region 2 company.

Due to Mr. Itthiphol’s failure to report as directed to open lawyers, the Criminal Court for Misconduct and Corruption Cases in Rayong approved the arrest countenance on September 5. He traveled to Cambodia.

On September 10, 2008, when he was the mayor of Pattaya, prosecutors had planned to charge him with illegally approving the construction of the enormous Waterfront Suites & amp, Residences condominium building that overlooked Bali Hai Marina.

Bali Hai Co. was the owner of the job. The building is still being built. Its destruction has been ordered. & nbsp,

At the base of Khao Phra Tamnak hill, close to Pattaya Bay and Bali Hai Pier, the Waterfront project was intended to have 57 & nbsp floors.

The project’s architecture and the area it was constructed on faced opposition. & nbsp,

Mr. Itthiphol, 50, & nbsp, was the minister for lifestyle up until recently. In July 2019, he was named a member of the second case of former prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Sonthaya Kunplome, a former president of Pattaya, is his younger brother.
