Wissanu Krea-ngam, a former deputy prime minister, will succeed Suthikiati Chirathivat as president of Bangkok Post Plc’s board of directors efficient from May 9.

The nomination of Mr Wissanu, 72, was approved at a meeting of the board on Wednesday. Mr Suthikiati, who had served as chairman since 2014, may be a committee chairman.

Recently, Mr Wissanu served as an independent representative of the Bangkok Post table from 2010 until he resigned on Aug 29, 2014, prior to his appointment as a deputy prime minister in the Prayut Chan- o- gan administration.

Mr. Wissanu, who is one of the country’s most well-known legal scholars, spent time as a popular government legitimate expert in 12 administrations and with eight prime ministers.

He has also written several books and articles that have been published, as well as serving as president and board member of several academic institutions.

While he was a deputy prime minister in the original state, Mr Wissanu oversaw the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the Civil Service Commission, the Council of State, Anti- Money Laundering Office, the Office of Public Sector Anti- Fraud Commission and the National Office of Buddhism.

He likewise served as the president’s consultant, working together with all other essential separate companies.

Mr. Wissanu, who was born on September 15, 1951, graduated from Thammasat University in 1972 with a first-class honors bachelor’s degree in law. He passed the bar examination the next year, obtained a master’s degree in Law at University of California, Berkeley, in 1974, and a PhD in Law at the same school in 1976.

He graduated from Chulalongkorn University with a graduate degree in law in 1977 after taking a study course at the National Defense College.

At the age of 32, Mr. Wissanu, who was only 32 years older, was hired as a law professor at Chulalongkorn University. He became Chatichai Choonhavan’s lieutenant secretary-general in 1991 and became so in 1991. Two years later, he was appointed case secretary-general.
