Former ambassador Maris tipped as new foreign minister

After Parnpree Bahiddha- Nukara resigned in a shocking statement on Sunday, past career diplomat Maris Sangiampongsa is being tipped as the possible new foreign minister.

According to press reports, Mr. Maris was an assistant to Mr. Parnpree at the government and is widely anticipated to be his replacement.

Before resigning as adviser to Canada, he served as ambassador to Australia and other nations.

When Thaksin Shinawatra was in charge of politics, Mr. Maris was reportedly hired to work at Government House. He has since maintained a&nbsp, close&nbsp, relation with the Shinawatras. &nbsp,
