PETALING JAYA: Fighting Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan should be the focus of the Opposition, rather than which seats to contest, says Rafizi Ramli.
The PKR deputy president said members should refrain from announcing which seats they wanted to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15), as this could lead to disputes among allies.
“Such moves are not helping the Opposition. Everyone should focus on fighting Barisan and Perikatan,” said Rafizi in a tweet on Wednesday (Sept 8).
This was after Negri Sembilan Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party (Muda) chief Tarmizi Anuwar revealed that the party would like to contest the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat.
“My advice is, avoid announcing which seats to contest as the matter should be discussed privately and not openly, as it could get very noisy,” added Rafizi.
Meanwhile, former Malaysian Bar president Ambiga Sreenevasan called Pakatan Harapan “arrogant” after its communications director Fahmi Fadzil said seat allocations have to be sorted out before the coalition allows other parties into its fold.
“Unbelievable arrogance, as Muda is a breath of fresh air,” said Ambiga in a tweet.
“Stick to your jaded script and you will lose supporters,’ she added.
Pakatan chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier said the presidential council had yet to discuss any cooperation with Muda.
