Flu, COVID-19 vaccines now mandatory for Singapore Haj pilgrims

In addition to the expected bacterial killed, all Singapore Haj travelers traveling to Saudi Arabia in June are required to bevaccinated for influenza and COVID-19.

Following consultation with the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore ( MUIS), the Ministry of Health ( MOH) and the Communicable Diseases Agency ( CDA ) updated their vaccination requirements.

In a joint news release released on Friday ( May 9 ), MOH and CDA stated that” this is to safeguard Haj pilgrims ‘ health throughout &nbsp, their journey and better protect them from infections while they are abroad.”

Pilgrims must provide evidence of “either a second dose of&nbsp, the updated vaccine for the 2024-2025 time, implementation of primary&nbsp, immunization collection, or laboratory-confirmed treatment from a COVID-19 disease during the year 2024.”

Pilgrims may get the shot within 12 months of their journey date in accordance with the influenza vaccination requirement.

Those who have the meningococcal vaccination may include finished it at least ten days before their departure.

According to MOH and CDA, MUIS had previously made travellers aware of the updated vaccination needs via Haj financing so they could schedule the appointment for the jabs.

Additionally, the officials advised travelers to keep up with their vaccination recommendations from the&nbsp, National Adult Immunization Schedule, and National Childhood Immunization Schedule.

According to some pilgrims, old and medically fragile may get the&nbsp, meningococcal vaccine before going on a trip.

The tips are also applicable to travellers from Singapore who intend to visit Saudi Arabia for Umrah journeys, according to MOH and CDA.

The government advised travelers to discuss their medical service four to six weeks before traveling about any vaccinations and preventive medications they may get when planning for a healthy trip.

Pilgrims are even advised to bring both their physical vaccination records and online immunization records to Saudi Arabian border checks via the HealthHub application.

Prior to that, just the pneumococcal vaccine, including influenza and COVID-19, was required for the 2024 Haj and Umrah journeys, according to MOH’s wellness advice that year.

For the Haj 2025 journey, MUIS has distributed papers of present to 900 travelers.
