Position may increase if no more rainfall, says governor

KHON KAEN- Following large rain, the city Muang district of this northeast province was flooded with traffic early on Saturday morning.

From 3 am to 5 am, persistent storms pour into the Muang area, flooding Maliwan Road with up to 50 centimeters of waters.

Due to the flood, heavy traffic erupted in both outbound and inbound roads, which required officers from Muang and Ban Phed facilities to be stationed in order to control customers heading toward city and Khon Kaen International Airport.

Ban Kok Road also faced intense flood, measuring 40-60 premier underground. Using this road, municipal officials put up signs to alert motorists.

A rain mountain moving into the lower North, the top center, and the Northeast, accompanied by a low-pressure mobile over Vietnam and a strengthening west monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, according to Khon Kaen government Kraisorn Kongchalard.

Waters could not be drained fast enough, he said, and rainfall was measured at around 125 millimeters per minute.

As long as there is no more rain, he said, the water condition is expected to return to normal by Saturday night.

To avoid missing flights, the government even advised air travelers to arrive at the airport an hour earlier than their planned absences.
