The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has warned 32 provinces of possible flash flooding and runoff, as heavy rain continues to pound most parts of the country.
The department said on its website on Thursday that sudden floods and runoff were possible throughout most of the northern and northeastern regions, which were most at risk.
The northern provinces were:
- Chiang Mai
- Chiang Rai
- Lampang
- Lamphun
- Mae Hong Son
- Nan
- Phetchabun
- Phitsanulok
- Tak
- Uttaradit
The northeastern provinces were:
- Bung Kan
- Buri Ram
- Chaiyaphum
- Kalasin
- Khon Kaen
- Loei
- Nakhon Ratchasima
- Nong Khai
- Sakon Nakhon
- Surin
The central provinces were:
- Chanthaburi
- Kanchanaburi
- Phetchaburi
- Prachin Buri
- Prachuap Khiri Khan
- Ratchaburi
- Sa Kaeo
- Trat
The southern provinces were:
- Chumphon
- Phangnga
- Phuket
- Ranong
The Mineral Resources Department on Wednesday issued mudslide warnings for Nan, Lampang, Phrae, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Chanthaburi and Trat until Friday.
The Meteorological Department’s Thursday foecast is for heavy rain until Sunday, including Greater Bangkok.
In the capital, rain was likely over 80% of the city until Saturday, with rain easing off from Sunday.
Heavy overnight rain caused several areas of Bangkok to be flooded, disrupting traffic during the morning rush hours.
