CHON BURI: Five southern vessels carrying 400, 000 gallons of illicit oil were intercepted and seized in the Gulf of Thailand, off Sattahip area in this northeast state, on Tuesday night.

Five criminal vessels were intercepted by a joint patrol of the sea and crime reduction division police about 100 nautical miles away from the Sattahip sea around 7am.

They were totaling more than 400 000 gallons of exempt fuel, according to a search. The goods were seized, the crew, and the vessels taken into custody. The Sattahip officers received the five crew in exchange for legal assistance.

According to police, the contraband operation investigation was being widened.
