Fish curry spice blend from India recalled over presence of pesticide: SFA

SINGAPORE :  Tibet Fish Curry Masala has been recalled. due to the presence of ethanol oxide at rates that exceed the permitted control; The Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) stated on Thursday ( 18 April ):”  

Ethylene oxide is  a chemical not approved for use in foods, although it is  SFA was permitted to be used in ingredients ‘ sterilization, he added.

The move  follows the warning that the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety is recalling the seasoning mix.

As Everest Fish Curry Masala was imported into Singapore, SFA has directed the buyer, Sp Muthiah & Sons, to understand the implicated items.      

The damaged goods were produced in India and weigh 50 grams, with a best-before day of September 2025. The recall is continued.

Long-term coverage may result in health issues, SFA said, though there is no immediate threat of consumption of food contaminated with small amounts of ethylene oxide.  

” Thus, exposure to this substance may become minimised as much as possible,” it added.  

Consumers  who have bought  SFA advised against consuming the implicated materials.
