First phase of Bishan-to-City links project opens

SINGAPORE: As part of plans to revitalize areas along the Kallang River, the first phase of a seamless pedestrian and cycling route from Bishan to the city began on Thursday( Oct 5 ).

Underpasses and signalized crossings in the area were added and improved as part of this phase of the & nbsp, Bishan-to-City Links project, according to a news release from the Urban Redevelopment Authority( URA ).

Under the most recent assessment of the Draft Master Plan 2025, which outlines land use and development programs for Singapore over the next 10 to 15 times, this was unveiled along with the start of a public commitment training on new ideas.

New houses in more convenient places, a Recreation Master Plan, and improved personality corridors are among the programs. URA and its partners will use platforms like competitions, events and focus groups to solicit suggestions and comments from Singaporeans and stakeholders.

ADDITION OF CONNECTIVITY TO KALLANG RIVER

When it is finished, the Bishan-to-City Links project, which was first unveiled in 2017, will connect communities along the Kallang River, giving users” a smooth 10km clean commute along akallang Park Connector” and an environmentally friendly, car-free, and healthier city.

For the safety and comfort of people, particularly riders, the current viaduct at Central Expressway has been improved as part of the first phase, with the room raised from 1.9m to 2.4m. To make it safer for more people to pass through, the path was also widened.
