Fifth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to “open in November”

The second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, which connects Pakxan village in Laos and Bueng Kan state of Thailand, may be available for public transportation starting in November, according to Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri on Friday.

The Muang Bueng Kan region, which is located on the opposite side of Pakxan, will be the location of this bridge between the tambons Bueng Kan, Khai Si, and Wisit.

A two-lane path at the Mekong River and a four-lane pass on the Thailand part of the building project connect Highway No. 1 and Highway No. 2. 222 ( Bueng Kan- Phang Khon ) with Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom and Sakon Nakhon, and a two- street, 2.86km pass in Pakxan.

The task cost 3.906 billion ringgit and will be finished this November, said Ms Manaporn.

It aims to improve the flow of goods between Thailand and Laos. According to Ms. Manaporn, it will aid in reducing the time and costs involved in ferrying goods between two nations, which will benefit logistics and commerce.

By the time the project is finished, the government anticipates growth in funding and employment opportunities as well as Bueng Kan’s capital growth from the superior connection with Vietnam and the southwestern region of China.

According to Ms. Manaporn, there is also a strategy for building infrastructure to support green growth in the four regions that border Thailand and Laos.

Because two of what will ultimately become six Thai-Lao Friendship Bridges are located in this region, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Mukdahan, and Sakon Nakhon are regarded as high-potential economic areas. A double-track rail and highway network is one of the area’s continuing projects that is currently in progress and cost 72.34 billion baht nevertheless.

The jobs focus on transportation links between Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China, said Ms Manaporn.
