After being accused of failing to deliver promised “auspicious objects,” which cost followers about$ 70 million in total, police detained a well-known fengshui master near Bangkok on Monday morning for alleged public fraud.
One person claimed to have lost 60 million ringgit.
Thanawan Jiracharoenwes was arrested in Pathum Thani state, just , northeast of Bangkok, early on Monday.
The Crime Suppression Division’s ( CSD ) commander, Pol Maj Gen Montri Theskhan, claimed that Mr. Thanawan had a large following on social media.
He was taken to CSD office in Bangkok for questioning while being detained on a charge of public forgery, according to an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court .  ,
At least 10 people complained to the CSD next week, alleging that they lost at least 70 million baht in total from their previous purchases to the fengshui specialist, who had advised them to stop their bad luck by holding rites and purchasing “auspicious items” quoted at seven-digit costs.  ,
They claimed that Mr. Thanawan’s goods were no distributed to them frequently.
A 77-year-old girl who reported to police that she alone had lost about 60 million ringgit to the suspect was one of the plaintiffs.
