Singapore epee fencer Kiria Tikanah was one out of a possible many at the Paris Olympics on Saturday ( Jul 27 ), after falling to Italy’s world number 3 Alberta Santuccio with a score of 15 to 15 in the table of 32.  ,
Earlier in the day, world range 75 Kiria caused a horror, edging out Peru’s Maria Calderon 15-14 at the Grand Palais. In the world positions, Calderon is 29 places ahead of the Singaporean.
Beating Santuccio, yet, proved to be a little tougher work. The Italian won the group epee gold at the previous Olympics, and he also won the individual and team magic at the World Championships next year.
Kiria looked unmoved as she held her personal early on. However, Santuccio would gradually concede defeat, with Kiria pulling out of the race.
Kiria made her Olympic debut three years ago at the Tokyo Games, making her next one. She was finally thrown from the 32-table.
On Sunday, her colleague Amita Berthier will face American Lauren Scruggs in the 32-player division.
