MANILA:  , Family members of people killed during former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte’s bloody crackdown on drugs demanded an investigation on Friday ( Apr 4 ) into what they say has been a flood of online threats since his arrest.
Duterte was detained on Mar 11 and put on a helicopter to the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands the same day to experience a fee of crimes against humanity tied to his medicine warfare, in which hundreds of mostly bad were killed.
On Friday, the family of four of those killed and their lawyer, Kristina Conti, filed issues asking the National Bureau of Investigation” to identify the names, names and IP names” of alleged Duterte followers responsible for online challenges and disinformation targeting them.
Conti said her personal social media pages had been bombarded with “hate talk, expletives and cruel remarks”.
” People might think that if the subjects are gone, the circumstance against Duterte may be dissolved also. So we are taking these dangers seriously”, she told investigators after filing the issues, warning that virtual challenges can escalate into physical damage.
Sheerah Escudero, whose brother was found deceased in 2017 with his head wrapped in presentation strip at the top of the terrible assault, was among the plaintiffs.
Escudero said people on social media had accused her of being a liar and a drug addiction, with some even sending private messages telling her she deserved to get killed and beheaded.
” We are only calling for justice, but they are twisting our stories and accusing us of spreading false news”, an emotive Escudero said.
