Expert panel to review Singapore Sports School’s safety protocols after student-athlete’s death

SINGAPORE: Following the passing of a 14-year-old student athlete and nbsp who became ill after participating in an exercise trial, an analyst panel is being formed to assist the Singapore Sports School in conducting an” complete” review of its safety procedures and practices.

According to Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong, the review, which the school is working on with & nbsp and the Ministry of Cultures, Communities and Young People( MCCY ), aims to find” areas for further improvement.”

Razwana Begum Abdul Rahim, a Nominated Member of Parliament( NMP ), asked him in writing on Monday, November 6, about the Sports School’s safety procedures, including whether its staff members received the proper training.

Following a regular 400-meter health time trial on October 5, badminton player Pranav Madhaik reported feeling under the weather. He was brought to the National University Hospital and nbsp, where he received intense clinical attention before passing away on October 11.

According to his death certificate, respiratory collar with an ancestor cause of coronary vessel abnormality was the cause.

On October 14, Pranav’s basketball coach was fired and nbsp for failing to take into account all undergraduate athletes and for neglecting to check on their health prior to dismissing them from training.

According to the Sports School, all of its security procedures are being reviewed and strengthened.

Mr. Tong stated on Monday that” Pranav’s terrible crossing, the loss of a fresh career with so much potential, has been an unfortunate situation, and to all of us.

He claimed that the Sports School has complete policies and procedures in place to safeguard the wellbeing and safety of its students, including in case of health emergencies.

It underwent one additional safety validation and check in February, just like the schools run by the Ministry of Education.
