Questionable religion priest Yantra Amaro has died at his California convent at the age of 73.

Yantra, whose public brand was Winai La-ongsuwan, died on Sunday at Sunnataram California Monastery in Escondido it was announced on the temple’s Instagram page on Monday.

The little information did not give information of his death. &nbsp,” We offer our sympathies to the Ancient Father who has reached Nirvana”, was all that was said.

Yantra drew a solid following in the United States, Thailand and additional nations after he was expelled from the Thai monkhood in 1994 in a highly publicised sex scandal involvng his connections with female followers.

He fled to California, set up a new abbey in Escondido and stayed there until the statute of limitations in the legal situations against him in Thailand expired in 2014.

Yantra continued to wear clothing comparable to those worn by appointed priests after he was expelled.

The former priest returned frequently to Thailand for poor page sessions with his supporters after 2014. His latest attend was next quarter when he was seen at Suvarnabhumi airports on Feb 6.

His followers sent condolence information to the social media platform of the convent, wishing that he rest in peace and obtain enlightenment.

Yantra was born in Pak Panang city of Nakhon Si Thammarat state.

His relatives in Pak Panang is arranging for the transfer of his brain for a religious festival in his home region, Thairath Online reported.
