PETALING JAYA: Malaysia must expect opportunities and threats to come next year when preparing for the Budget 2023, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
As 2023 was fast approaching, Dr Wee, who is MCA president, said the country must anticipate what’s to come in a broad and inclusive way.
“MCA has gathered academics, industry captains from several chambers of commerce, opinion leaders from civil society organisations, and other NGOs for their input on Budget 2023, to be tabled soon.
“We value the opinions and suggestions of all our stakeholders to ensure everyone has an equal chance to be heard,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post.
He said this after opening the party’s Budget 2023 stakeholders’ roundtable event at Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Aug 20).
The event was themed “Strengthening Recovery, Facilitating Reforms Towards Sustainable Economic Resilience of Keluarga Malaysia”.
“In my opening speech, I urged the attendees to think inclusively and broadly on how to make the conditions and opinions of the lower rungs of society be heard,” Dr Wee said.
He added that he had urged them to suggest how businesses in Malaysia could thrive as the country entered a robust recovery period after its reopening from the pandemic.
Especially now when the nation’s gross domestic product growth was expected to reach between 5.3% to 6.3% this year.
