Expanded rest areas, new cafe for Changi Airport’s airside workers

SINGAPORE: Changi Airport flight workers are set to get enhanced and expanded sleep places at the work, which includes a new shop.

Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat made the announcement on Thursday ( Feb 20 ) at the Resorts World Sentosa annual airport celebration.

” We did keep making Changi a pleasant place to work.” The well-being of our staff is paramount”, he said.

IMPROVEMENTS

All employees are expected to be within a 10-minute walk or a short drive of an air-conditioned staff lounge or cafe, according to Mr. Chee, and The Changi Airport Group ( CAG ) will make investments to improve the airside workplace environment.

The airport’s “airside” refers to the area that has received no emigration clearing.

According to Mr. Chee, a second flight shop is expected to open in the spring of 2014 and will have more hot food options.

By the end of 2025, CAG will update the” Rest &amp, Dine” spaces in the baggage areas to make it easier for employees to rest while not having to travel far during breaks, he said.

Over the next three decades, the team will also improve all aircraft restrooms, according to Mr. Chee, adding that this will include improvements to lights and natural ventilation. Where possible, the number of toilet will be increased, he said.

In addition to increasing the number of supporters at our baggage handling areas, CAG will continue to work on developing novel and creative methods to reduce the ambient temperature in the cargo area, according to Mr. Chee.

Lightning homes in the aircraft may work as “pit stops”, with added seating and fans&nbsp, to “provide better protection from the sun and the weather” and provide workers&nbsp, comfort and convenience, he said.

CAG and SATS will also utilize technology to create a more pleasant working environment, Mr Chee said, citing&nbsp, SATS ‘ implementation of assistive products during cargo management and CAG’s robotics trialling for bag management.
