Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor announced on Wednesday ( Mar 5 ) that a grant to co-fund the installation of electric vehicle ( EV ) chargers at private homes like condominiums has been extended by another year.  ,
Dr. Khor, who introduced the Transport Ministry’s spending programs for the year in parliament, announced that the EV frequent cable give will also be expanded to co-fund 3,500 adapters.  ,
The Land Transport Authority ( LTA ) stated in a statement that the grant, which was introduced in 2021 to encourage the installation of chargers at condominiums, has co-funded the installation of about 1,700 chargers in more than 500 residential developments to date.  ,
With the extension, the grant will continue to cover 50 % of smart charger components, but at a lower price of S$ 3, 000 ( US$ 2, 230 ) per charger for the additional 1, 500 chargers, down from S$ 4, 000. Condominiums may submit an application for money that covers up to 1 % of their total vehicle area thousands.
The offer may remain open until 2026, or until 3,500 batteries have been chosen for co-funding, whichever comes first, if it is scheduled to expire on December 31 of this year.  ,
The improvement comes as a significant increase in electric vehicle implementation is underway. EVs accounted for about one-third of all new cars registered in 2024, up from 18 % in 2023. Batteries were registered for about half of new light-goods vehicles.
By the end of 2024, electric cars and light goods vehicles accounted for 4 % and 4.7 % of their respective total vehicle populations.  ,
More than 19, 000 charging points are available islandwide, about half of which are accessible to the general public, according to Dr. Khor, who has also reported that the EV charging community has continued to expand.
She added that EV chargers are available in more than 60 % of HDB  auto gardens.  ,
” We have made good progress,” she said, adding that all HDB people who own or wish to own an EV have quick exposure to a cable close to their homes.  ,
All new vehicles filings must be for cleaner-energy models starting in 2030 as part of Singapore’s long-term efficient transportation goals.
