PUNE, India: Not many people can feature having candid conversations about planetary cure with Elon Musk, but for Indian software engineer Pranay Pathole, a friendly chat with the world’s richest man is just a tweet away.
Their unlikely online friendship provides blossomed since Pathole was a teenager, using the mercurial billionaire responding to him over numerous tweets and personal messages with headline-making company updates as well as life advice.

Immediately, the two finally fulfilled face to face, when Pathole travelled to the United States – his 1st trip overseas – to begin a master’s degree there running a business analytics.
“He is super legitimate. Like, way down-to-earth. He’s humble, ” the 23-year-old informed AFP beforehand. “The way he requires his time to respond to me… just displays. ”
Musk is a prolific consumer of Twitter, frequently posting more than thirty times a day in order to his 103 million followers.

But it remains the mystery why the SpaceX and Tesla boss, with an internet worth of US$266 billion, maintains normal contact with the young Indian.
“To be very truthful, I have no idea. I think he must be like, really intrigued by my questions, ” Pathole told AFP from his parents’ upper-middle-class home within the western city of Pune.
Pathole’s accounts is one of merely a small handful that this billionaire frequently replies to – an average of once every two days, based on Musk’s public Twitter posts since the start of 2020.
The first time Musk responded to him was in 2018 whenever Pathole, then from the ages of 19, pointed out the flaw in Tesla’s automatic windshield wipers.
“Fixed in next release, ” Musk replied, along with Tesla addressing the issue in a subsequent software update.
Their mother and father celebrated by taking him out to supper that night.
“I was blown away, to be very truthful, ” Pathole states. “I took multiple screenshots of it and never wanted your day to end. ”
Their later private chats – everyday at first – covered “busting myths” about Musk’s past and discussions about exactly why colonising other planets is “essential”, Pathole says.
“I used to ask him dumb questions, ridiculous questions. And he utilized to take his time to reply to me. ”
The time distinction between the US and India has done little to hamper the four-year virtual companionship.
“I don’t think he sleeps that often. Because he is on Twitter, such as, the majority of the time, ” Pathole says.
‘He’s a good unpredictable guy’
Pathole says interactions with Musk have become “much more casual” over the years, and no longer rushes to share them with friends and family.
“Elon is the exact same guy in his public persona as well as in his private, ” he says.
Musk’s candid, irreverent and often cryptic tweets have got sparked wild share and cryptocurrency cost swings, inviting overview by US regulators.
The billionaire investor is also secured in a high-stakes legal battle with Twitter by itself over his effort to walk away from an agreement to buy the organization, with the trial set to begin in Oct.
But Pathole rejects suggestions how the billionaire acts along with malice.
“I don’t think that he is a troll, ” Pathole says. “He’s an unpredictable guy. ”
Hired straight out of anatomist college to work on Tata Consultancy Providers, India’s biggest IT firm, Pathole states he was “infamous” for getting into problems at school – a trait he says helps him better understand Musk.

Often , he rates the billionaire entrepreneur’s comments verbatim.
“Live on Earth and die on Roter planet (umgangssprachlich): that is a philosophy that individuals all share, ” Pathole says, including that he wants to get old and die with all the “red dust associated with Mars” on his feet.
Pathole provides amassed a six-digit Twitter following, increasing the every time Musk describes him in a twitter update.
Even off-line, Musk is a frequent topic of dinner-table conversation with Pathole’s family and friends.
“Elon is like our family friend, ” jokes Pranay’s father Prashant, a media consultant, including that he and his wife Pallavi, a homemaker, were proud of their particular son’s passion.
