Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will today chair a gathering of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Plan Committee to follow up on progress in expenditure projects.
He will also discuss ways to prevent possible social and environmental impacts, deputy federal government spokeswoman Traisulee Taisaranakul said yesterday.
The government offers instructed state organizations to ramp up initiatives to press forward with EEC tasks and listen to opinions to ensure communities take pleasure in maximum benefits.
The federal government aims to turn the particular EEC, which covers parts of Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao, into a high-tech commercial hub hosting 12 targeted S-curve sectors, including electric automobiles, smart electronics and also affluent, medical and health and fitness tourism.

The report has been sent to the Office of the EEC Policy Committee that will work with the Industry Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Social Development and Human Security Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry to put the suggestions into action, she said.
The report offers predicted potential difficulties in the EEC area such as urban expansion, losses of farming land, degradation associated with natural resources and the environment, water disadvantages and concerns regarding pollution management, she said.
Solutions included adopting proactive approaches to tackling problems, conducting a strategic environmental assessment, advertising industries that are pleasant to the environment, and supporting a participatory process involving residents in decision-making, the girl said.
