Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong stated on Tuesday that the Department of Special Investigation ( DSI) is looking for a warrant to detain Col Saw Chit Thu, the leader of the Myanmar-allied Karen Border Guard Force ( BGF), as well as two other senior officers on suspicion of transnational human trafficking.
Lt. Col Mote Thone and Maj. Tin Win are the other two defendants, according to a DSI cause.
The Shwe Kokko project, a international organized crime hub, is officially under the control of the BGF. It is located in Shwe Kokko town near Myawaddy in the Karen State of Myanmar.
When asked how Thailand plans to capture the three high-ranking officials in Myanmar, Pol Col Tawee said,” Thinking of the assistance of Myanmar along with work by Asean and China in coordinating the imprisonment of these defendants.”
” To assault these defendants isn’t hard really. It, however, will largely depend on how much]regional ] leaders want to help. If they really see this]transnational violence ] as a threat to their locations, they will have to”, he said.
The secretary emphasized that the subpoenas are supported by credible information, which the DSI has been gathering for some time, and that they include information about the money tracks involved.
According to him, the Thai government and the US embassy in Thailand are working closely together because several US people have also been victims of groups operating in Myanmar.
According to the same DSI cause, two Thai citizens who work for a business that runs a hotel both in Thailand and Myawaddy are the only offenders who are currently facing arrest.
Despite having a meeting with lawyers at the Department of the Prostitution in People Litigation on Tuesday afternoon to discuss related issues, Pol Maj Worranan Srilum, DSI official, stated on Tuesday that the DSI has not yet submitted its request for the new permits.
Seven Indian nationals are the subject of a multinational human trafficking case, according to the same cause, who was just rescued by Thai authorities from a call center scam den in Myawaddy, directly opposite Tak’s Mae Sot area in Thailand.
