KANCHANABURI: Due to  flood in the area, owners are advised to avoid traveling on a major highway between Sangkhla Buri and Thong Pha Phum regions.

After about two kilometers of being submerged under water, the statewide office of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issued the advisory on Thursday. Water up to 50 centimeters full made the street impossible for smaller vehicles to cross.

The main road leads to Thong Pha Phum, which is a popular destination for visitors to the state, particularly on long weekends like the one that is on the horizon.

Flash floods were caused by heavy rains in the area on Wednesday nights. Water caused an overflow of U-long channel, which only made the situation worse.

Employees and volunteers were directing traffic and having posted signs to alert drivers of flood, according to Thong Pha Phum city main Chakrit Tanpirun.

One of the provinces, according to wind analysts, may experience flash floods and landslides until following Tuesday due to steady thunderstorms.
