Dr Wee urges Johor Port Authority to keep up positive growth

PETALING JAYA: The Johor Port Authority (JPA), having recorded a boost in performance, has been urged to keep it up as a gateway for the country in the south.

Transport Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Datuk Seri Doctor Wee Ka Siong said LPJ continues to be called to improve overall performance at two ports under its management, namely Tanjung Pelepas Port and Pasir Gudang Port.

“The two slots are an important entrance for the country or maybe the ‘Malaysia Southern Gateway’ which certainly provides many benefits to the Malaysian Family.

“Last year, the Tanjung Pelepas Port (PTP) managed to handle 11. 2 million TEUs, which is an increase of 14% compared to 2020. I hope this year PTP is able to maintain this particular momentum.

“The same goes for Pasir Gudang Port, which is expected to continue to be a commodity hub, specifically the largest palm oil storage facility in the world.

“I hope that will JPA can crack this record or at least maintain its excellent efficiency, even though ports around the world are facing issues and side effects due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, ” said Dr Early after launching the JPA Cares Malaysian Family programme in Pasir Gudang Mon (Aug 22).

The event saw the particular presentation of donated glasses to school students and helmets to JPA, PTP, schools and the Kampung Pasir Gudang community head, as part of JPA’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.

“Well done plus congratulations JPA designed for implementing many programs to support the government’s efforts in helping people, especially those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Transportation Ministry greatly appreciates such efforts which usually go hand in hand using the government’s continuous initiatives to help the unlucky and the less capable, ” said the particular MCA president, in the speech.

Furthermore present were LPJ chairman Rosnan Fathlal and general supervisor Kamaruzaman Munasir.
