PETALING JAYA: The delay in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s trial relating to the embezzlement of RM42mil in funds owned by SRC International Sdn Bhd may have triggered other cases to become delayed, says Realisieren Dr Mahathir Mohamad ( pic ).
“Because Najib’s SRC situation took a very long time (four years), many instances of theft, abuse of power, and corruption involving political figures were postponed and not brought to courtroom.
“Delaying the trials will result in proper rights being neglected, inch he said in a statement Thursday (Aug 25).

The former primary minister, who is furthermore Langkawi MP, said Najib is currently getting tried in an additional case (the 1MDB trial), which will also take a long time.
“The delay is made worse by the behavior of Najib and his lawyers who use various excuses in order to delay the trial.
“It is true as the English stating goes that justice delayed is justice denied, ” he or she said.
In the mean time, Dr Mahathir furthermore believed it is highly likely that Najib, who is currently in prison, will be pardoned at some point.
Upon Tuesday (Aug 23), Najib was delivered to Kajang Prison after the apex court upheld the High Court’s phrase of 12 years’ jail and a fine of RM210mil fine for misappropriating RM42mil of SRC Worldwide funds.
A five-member bench directed by Chief Proper rights Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat dismissed Najib’s appeal to set aside the conviction and word imposed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 28, 2020.
Najib had, on Dec 8, 2021, failed to overturn the ruling after the Court associated with Appeal upheld the High Court’s decision
On Thursday (Aug 25), the former premier was at the Kuala Lumpur High Court to attend proceedings in the 1MDB trial prior to Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah.
Najib is facing four charges of making use of his position to get bribes totalling RM2. 3bil from 1MDB funds and twenty one charges of money washing involving the same quantity.
