During his three-day formal attend to the Philippines, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi made a call to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The assistant prime minister’s statement at the conference confirmed Malaysia’s strong commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations, which is in line with its arrangements to appoint Asean chair in 2025.
In a social media post on Monday ( October 14), he wrote,” We also looked into opportunities to boost cooperation in the halal industry, particularly expanding halal certification and exploring new growth opportunities in halal trade, including the halal tourism sector.”
Additionally, Ahmad Zahid, who chairs the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( TVET ) Council, mentioned that their discussions emphasised the importance of TVET in driving economic growth.
He expressed Malaysia’s interest in forging closer ties with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority ( Tesda ) of the Philippines, particularly in sharing expertise and best practices.
The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee noted that the Philippines ‘ Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team ( Smart ) and related Philippine organizations could collaborate on training to improve joint response capabilities.
He continued,” I also reaffirmed our commitment to helping the Philippines in times of devastation.”
Ahmad Zahid emphasized the two countries ‘ shared values and aspirations, highlighting their shared commitment to local stability and prosperity.
” I have great hopes that this meeting will help to strengthen our relationship with the Philippine government and open the door for further teamwork,” he declared. – Bernama
