Dozens rescued after building catches fire in South Korea’s Seongnam city

Twelve people were taken to the hospital in Seongnam, South Korea, on Friday ( Jan. 3 ) as a result of a fire and thick smoke inhalation.

About 30 persons who had been trapped were carefully rescued, the fire department said.

There were no accounts of severe injuries.

After the fire broke out in a cafe on the ground floor of the busy business building, which even housed a swimming pool for children’s snorkeling lessons, the ministry sent 82 vehicles and products south of Seoul to put the blaze out. &nbsp, The cause of the incident was not immediately known.

Many people were reported trapped inside earlier, according to YTN television’s earlier reports, with video revealing black smoke pouring into a large portion of the structure.
