Dismembered body not related to missing single mother, says Melaka top cop

MELAKA: Police have confirmed that the dismembered body of a woman found in a drain in Alor Gajah is not the missing single mother, Mira Sharmila Samsusah, also known as Bella.

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said DNA tests were conducted on Bella’s family members, as well as another missing woman from Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan.

“Both the DNA tests were negative to link the missing persons to the body that was discovered inside a garbage bin by the roadside of Kampung Teluk Rimau Luar at Pulau Sebang on Dec 31,” he said on Monday (Jan 8).

Bella, 32, a mother of two, was reported missing on Dec 14 after allegedly going out with her boyfriend.

Two days later, her family members lodged a police report in Batu Pahat, Johor.

On Jan 6, Alor Gajah police said the body of an unidentified woman was found chopped up and concealed in a garbage bin by a passerby on Dec 31.

The victim was believed to have been murdered in another location before her remains were discarded.

Some of the body parts of the victim were still missing.
